{Thanks to You..She DID IT AGAIN!}

Every year in the month of March, many schools across the nation take part in Read Across America.  If you are unaware of what it is click on this link for more info.
Read Across America also celebrates Dr. Seuss birthday! What is it you may be wondering?? It is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually  Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books!

At Bre's school and since she has been in Elementary school we joined in on the celebration. There are fun activities planned for the students and even the parents are given an opportunity to join in on the celebration.  What I did too take part was I chose to read one of Bre's fav books to her class, "Skippy Jon Jones"...funny book...check out the series if you can!

All kids were given a challenge to collect funds as sponsors for their personal read-a-thon. All students who raised over $150 in sponsors would earn that limo trip to In & Out! Exciting right? I know..tell me about it! So yeah my girl DID THAT! YES SHE DID! With YOUR help! I wanted to personally THANK those who did contribute to my baby's success! I normally do not like asking for money but it had a great purpose. All monies raised went right back into the classrooms at her elementary school. =)
Not only do the kids get rewarded...but the top 3 teacher (I believe) would get to accompany the students and ride in the limo with the students!

There were was a huge limo that maybe picked up 9 kids (I think) and while they got dropped off, the limo went to pick up the 2nd wave of students who earned trips. There were maybe 4 trips done in total.  I loved seeing the kids faces...they just KNEW they were the bomb.com!

Their chariot awaited....yes I was paparazzi and followed... =) Hey...it was only me, mom and Shelby that followed...lol. We had lunch as well =)

Last but not least I need to take my hat off to Bre's 1st grade teacher and one of the realest sistahs I know...Mrs. Voglezon and also her Kinder Mrs. Jourdain, teacher WHO both made the top 3 teachers who students earned the most money for their classrooms! These teachers I both feel are GREAT teachers and assets to the school...just awesome!!!

Personally I would like to THANK again...are:

Gina - Aunt
Tracie - Great Friend
Christina - CoWorker and Friend
Gran - The Best Grandma
Jose - Coworker and Friend

{Weekend Leisure...Part 1}

Well this past weekend was busy as heck, but I had a great time for the most parts! Those who know me know I stay busy...I had a jam packed weekend and the weather was bomb.com, so that helped my vibe tremendously....we have been having 80-90 degree weather...however today its supposed to rain...go figure!

Cali Life baby!

This past weekend was National Scrapbook Day and I am sorry, but only my crafty friends will understand how important this day is in the industry. What is National Scrapbook Day some may be wondering?

"Each year on the first Saturday in May, it is National Scrapbook Day.  Also known as National Scrapbooking Day, on this day thousands of people get together all over the country to celebrate with scrapbooking parties and share their talents with others.  Scrapbooking dates back to the 15th century.

As per Wikipedia: “Scrapbooking is a method for preserving personal and family history in the form of a scrapbook. Typical memorabilia include photographs, printed media, and artwork. Scrapbook albums are often decorated and frequently contain extensive journaling. Scrapbooking is a widely practiced pastime in the United States.”

Scrapbooking is a hobby of preserving memories and at the same time it provides a strong social network.  ”Scrappers”, as they are called, get together and scrapbook at each others homes, local scrapbook stores, scrapbooking conventions, retreat centers and have even gone on cruises.  Together they share tips and ideas and enjoy the social outlet.

The scrapbooking industry doubled in size between 2001 and 2004

According to our research, National Scrapbook Day, an “unofficial” National holiday was started in 1994 by the scrapbook company, Creative Memories."

This year, me and a few girlfriends participated in a crop hosted in Orange, our company was the best part...my day was not going as expected to say the least..for starters...when I parked at the crop, I immediately remembered I left behind at home, 3 bins I usually keep my embellishments in and my alphas...BOO to that! I was not returning home...so I found myself at Micheal's. =/
Upon returning from Micheal's, I start to unload my stuff...and I am digging in my bags to unload and get my set up goin which is when I cut my finger extremely bad to the point where I had to hunt down band-aids and apply serious pressure, cuz I wouldn't stop bleeding..

After settling down...the room temp was just not my cup of tea. I have difficulties in scrapping in cold temps...I never found my groove which was slightly disappointing to say the least! At least I had my girlfriends!
Here are a few pics we snapped on NSD:

 My boo...even though she gets on my nerves at times...she did order us those cute matching pink Tees...says, "Scrappin With My Peeps"

 Don't mess with a scrapper...we got TOOLS!

 Julia, Wendy & Angela
 Wendys Crew... =)

This my first time in a LOOOONG time, that I attended a 12 hour crop and having absolutely nothing to show for it...sad huh? Mojo was not in the building that day!

If you are a scrapper I sure hope you enjoyed your day!
There will be a part 2 of this past weekend, because I do have one more event to share with you, but this one was longer than expected!
Toodles for now!

{Happy National Scrabook Day!!}

To All my scrappy friends, this is for yooooouuuuuu!!!!

HAPPY NATIONAL SCRAPBOOK DAY!!!!
(If you don't scrapbook or not in the craft world...I know this post will go directly over your head)

Dang, I remember almost 12 or more years ago when I was a consultant for Creative Memories, and I would host some bomb NSD's! So much fun! National Scrapbook Day has evolved into something so much more! There are tons of functions going on today, and all weekend. I'm sure countless crops, retreats, sales, etc.

What are my plans today? I am actually celebrating with a few fantastic girlfriends of mine who will make up the total of 50 women all getting crafty in the city of Orange. This location we go to usually holds crops there on a monthly basis and when we get together wherever we go we ALWAYS have a blast! Some of my greatest friends have come from the scrapbook industry!

If you are reading and are interested in my online group, please do not to hesitate to join WhoGivesAScrap!? Yes, you can find us on Facebook, that's where we are!

Have a blast today whatever you are choosing to do!

Toodles!

{Discovery Science Center - 1st Grade Field Trip!!}

Last week, I was chosen to be a chaperon on a field trip to the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, Ca. Imagine....a bus full of 1st graders....oh how bout 3 1st grade classes on the bus...they were screaming at the top of their lungs, singing all their little cool songs that they like to sing...including....FROZEN!!! Is there any parent out there who is not in sync with Frozen yet? LOL...well these kids I swear make me laugh, I enjoy them SO MUCH! What I really enjoy is being told, "You are a COOL mom!" Dang right kiddo!

With the duty of chaperoning,  I was in charge of 5 kids in my group...if you can imagine....yeah it was a job! LOL...There is always one in the group...`that always wants to run off! To protect the innocent, I will not say any names...but hey they are kids, what do you expect!

I think before the day was over, all knew my little runaways name! Because I was yelling the name of the unmentioned every 5-7 minutes...lol...they were still a bundle of joy!

If you are in the Southern California area or plan to visit with little ones, this is a must see. I live here and had no idea this place existed! Check it out, your kids will love it! Check out this interesting architecture....the kids notice "THE CUBE" when we were still on the freeway!

Check out some of pics captured that day...

Some of Bre's classmates, love these little kids, full of personality!

Once inside the Cube, look up into the booster engine and press the launch button to trigger the countdown: 3… 2… 1… BLAST OFF! Surrounded by video screens, blasts of fog, and state-of-the-art sound effects, prepare to experience a rocket launch like you never thought possible.
This Rocket Stimulator was pretty cool...
