This Stinks!
It started about 2 weeks ago I guess, Bre caught the wonderful Pink Eye, and on top of that had a few cold symptoms.
Well about 2 days after I took her in, my symptoms began to come and visit as well as mom and then dad! None of us (mom, dad or myself) got Pink Eye, but we got horrible colds.
Last Friday, was my absolute worst. By the end of the night I looked like I had a run in with Ike Turner, bloody nose, swollen face, etc. Next morning I made an appointment in urgent care which is when I discovered I had my first ever sinus infection. Not the business. So I walked away with 4 prescriptions...Amoxicillan (Antibiotics), Prednisone (steroids), an inhaler and eye freakin drops! Not cool...
Since then I have had okay days, but at night its the pits. No sleep. Cough attacks that would last about 2 hours...by the time I get good sleep has typically be running between the hours of 3-5am...then of course the alarm is about to buzz. So yeah, I am slightly irritated. Bre WAS getting better BUT since the 3 of us were sick...she is now sick again and its back with a vengeance on my little princess. She has missed school again this week..and you know a sista still has to pay tuition whether she is there or not...argh!
Anyhow, pray for our health and that we all get better. This is NOT the business!!!!

The Love Dare...
**Borrowed from someone very special to me, here is an excerpt from this book I can't wait to read. Those who are married may find this book helpful. Have you watched the movie Fireproof? Wonderful movie, which is featured in the storyline of Fireproof. Check both out if you can should be beneficial. Just reading this excerpt alone gave me an unwanted reality check.**
Love is Unconditional
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ dies for us. – Romans 5:8
If someone were to ask you, “Why do you love your wife?” or “Why do you love your husband?” – what would you say?
Most men would mention their wife’s beauty, her sense of humor, her kindness, her inner strength. They might talk about her cooking, her knack for decorating, or what a good mother she is.
Women would probably say something about their husband’s good looks or his personality. They’d commend him for his steadiness and consistent character. They’d say they love him because he’s always there for them. He’s generous. He’s helpful.
But what if over the course of years, your wife or husband stopped being every one of those things. Would you still love them? Based on your answers above, the only logical response would be “no.” If your reasons for loving your spouse all have something to do with his or her qualities – and then those same qualities suddenly or gradually disappear – your basis for love is over.
The only way love can last a lifetime is if it’s unconditional. The truth is this: love is not determined by the one being loved but rather by the one choosing to love.
The Bible refers to this kind of love by using the Greek word agape (pronounced uh-GOP-ay).
It differs from the other types of love, which are – phileo (friendship) and eros (sexual love). Both friendship and sex have an important place in marriage, of course, and are definitely part of the house you build together as husband and wife. But if your marriage totally depends on having common interests or enjoying a healthy sex life, then the foundation of your relationship is unstable.
Phileo and eros are more responsive in nature and can fluctuate based upon feelings. Agape love, on the other hand, is selfless and unconditional. So unless this kind of love forms the foundation of your marriage, the wear and tear of time will destroy it. Agape love is in “sickness and health” love, “for richer or poorer” love, “for better or worse” love. It is the only kind of love that is true love.
That’s because this is God’s kind of love. He doesn’t love use because we are lovable but because He is so loving. The Bible says, “In this love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10). If He insisted that we prove ourselves worthy of His love, we would fail miserably. But God’s love is a choice He makes completely on His own. It’s something we receive from Him and then share with others. “We love, because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).
If a man says to his wife, “I have fallen out of love with you,” he is actually saying, “I never loved you unconditionally to begin with.” His love was based on feelings or circumstances rather than commitment. That’s the result of building a marriage on phileo or eros love. There must be a stronger foundation than mere friendship or sexual attraction. Unconditional love, agape love, will not be swayed by time or circumstance.
That’s not to say, though, that love which began for the wrong reasons cannot be restored and redeemed. In fact, when you rebuild your marriage with agape as its foundation, then the friendship and romantic aspects of your love become more endearing than ever before. When your enjoyment of each other as best friends and lovers is based on unwavering commitment, you will experience an intimacy that cannot be achieved any other way.
But you will struggle and fail to attain this kind of marriage unless you allow God to begin growing His love within you. Love that “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Corinthians 13:7) does not come from within. It can only come from God.
The Scriptures say that “neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39). This is God’s kind of love. And thankfully – by your choice – it can become your kind of love. But first you must receive it and share it.
And don’t be surprised, when your spouse begins living confidently under its shade, if he or she doesn’t become even more lovable to you than you remember. You will no longer say, “I love you because …” You will now say, “I love you, period.”

My Testimony...
Well with no luck, this past Sunday, I went back to my home church. I know FOR SURE, I will get the word and everything else I am looking for right there at Life Changing Ministries. So...I went..and already knew Pastor was going to give me that look...yeah you know that look!
So, I walked in the sanctuary, and Pastor Woods made direct eye contact with me and gave me that look and the head nod, like.."Yeah I see you, glad to see you though" look. So I nod back, like, "Glad to see you too Pastor!" =) Which I was, I just felt at home.
Praise and Worship...of the chain! (as usual). Usually after Praise and Worship he asks us to welcome our neighbors and show some love. So..at this time I when I decided to go show my Pastor some love...he gave love right back. True my Pastor hasn't seen me in a while, but he greeted me as if he just saw me yesterday, and asked, "How you doin Pat" (person #3 I will allow to call me Pat)...I replied, "I'm healing....I'm healing, thank you", so he smiled gave me that look like, "You are in the right place!" So...I find my way back to seat...
The congregation is introduced to this Pastor from Ghana...BOMB! Wow! Guess what the message was about....HEALING!!!! HELLO!? Instant chills...I swear my skin looked like an orange peel the ENTIRE service! So he speaks about healing!
He reminded us that, "By his stripes we are healed!" Which is so true...
No matter what type of wounds or bruises we have, whether they are emotional, spiritual, physical, economical, financial....you can be healed!"
If you claim....you can inherit my friends, all you gotta have is your faith in the right spot! I can testify to this as I am sure many of us can!
So he asked us..."WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM!?"
Compare your bruises to his bruises! Let go of any issues you may be holding onto from your past, HE was bruised far more than us...think about it! Transfer your emotional wounds to him and let him rescue you and repair!
If you cannot solve your own problems....TURN IT OVER TO HIM!!!
A few of the versus that were discussed...loved them
Isaiah 53:5
"But HE was wounded and bruised for our sins. He was chastised that we might have peace; he was lashed - and we were healed!"
Luke 11:24-25
24 - When a demon is cast out of a man, it goes to the deserts, searching there for the rest; but finding none , it returns to the person it left."
25 - and finds that its former home is all swept and clean"
Mark 9:14-29
14 - At the bottom of the mountain they found a great crowd surrounding the other nine disciples, as some Jewish leaders argued with them
15 - The crowd watched Jesus in awe as he came toward them, and then ran to greet him
16 - Whats all the argument about? he asked.
17 - One of the men in the crowd spoke up and said, "Teacher I brought my son for you to heal as he can't talk because he is possessed by a demon.
18 - And whenever the demon is in control of him it dashed him to the ground and makes him foam at the mouth and he bites his teeth and becomes rigid. So I begged your disciples to cast out the demon, but they couldn't do it."
19 - Jesus said [to his disciples], "Oh what tiny Faith you have, how much longer must I be with you until you believe? How much longer must I be patient with you? Bring the bout to me."
20 - So they brought the boy, but when he saw Jesus the demon convulsed the child horribly , and fell to the ground foaming at the mouth.
21 - "How long has he been this way?" Jesus asked the father. And he replies, "Since he was very small
22 - and the demon often makes him fall into the fire or into the water to kill him.
Oh have mercy on us and do something if you can."
23 - "If I can?" Jesus asked. "Anything is possible if you have faith."
24 - The father instantly replied, "I do have faith: oh, help me to have more!"
25 - When Jesus saw the crowd was growing, he rebuked the demon. "Oh demon of the deafness and dumbness," he said, "I command you to come out of this child and enter him no more!"
26 - Then the demon screamed terribly and convulsed the boy again and left him and they boy lay there limp and motionless, to all appearance dead. A murmur ran through the crowd - "He is dead."
27 - But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet and he stood up and was all right!
28 - Afterwards, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, "Why couldn't we have cast that demon out?"
29 - Jesus replied, "Cases like this require prayer"
Mark 9:23
"Anything is possible if you have faith"
**Please be sure to refer to the specific bible verse and read from your bibles, as we all use different versions...

Are You From My Apple Tree!?
I love me some Erykah Badu...I must admit though, I think I like her first few CD's...my most favorite..
Mama's Gun
Erykah Badu Live (bomb...and can't find it)
Baduism
Worldwide Underground
....after that I havent bought any new ones..love Window Seat as well...
However, one of my all time favorite songs of hers is "Apple Tree" I like Erykah Badu because her lyrics I can relate to..here is one of my favs:
It was a stormy night
you know the kind where the lightning strike
and I was hangin' out wit some of my "artsy" friends
ooh wee ooh wee oooh
The night was long the night went on
people coolin' out until the break of dawn
incense was burnin' so I'm feelin right -- ah'ight
See I picks my friends like I pick my fruit
& Ganny told me that when I was only a youth
I don't go 'round trying to be what I'm not
I don't waste my time trying ta get what you got
I work at pleasin' me cause I can't please you
and that's why I do what I do
My soul flies free like a willow tree
doo wee doo wee do wee
And if you don't want to be down with me
You don't want to pick from my appletree
And if you don't want to be down with me
Then you don't want to pick from my appletree
And if you don't want to be down with me
Then you don't want to pick from my appletree
And if you don't want to be down with me
You just don't want to be down
I have a ho
and I take it everywhere I go
Cause I'm planting seeds
so I reaps What I sow -- ya know
Oh on & on & on & on
my cipher keeps movin' like a rollin' stone
I can't control the soul flowin' in me
ooh wee
See I picks my friends like I pick my fruit
& Ganny told me that when I was only a youth
I don't walk around trying to be what I'm not
I don't waste my time trying ta get what you got
I work at pleasin' me cause I can't please you
and that's why I do what I do
My soul flies free like a willow tree
doo wee doo wee do wee
Depending on where you are in life, this song could mean so many different things.
Do you often question your identity still as an adult? Do you question your motives? Do you question why you do the things you do? Do you question who is truly in your corner? Do you question who your REAL friends are?
It's simple...as the song says, "I work at pleasin' me casue I can't please you, and thats why I do what I do!"....worry about yourself and not be focused so much on others. Be pleased with yourself. Accept yourself for who you are. Try not to worry about what everyone else and their mama may think about you...everyone has an opinion and whether you ask or not they may or may not give it to ya.
Find your inner strength and know that their opinions don't matter...its all about YOU!
Eat your own fruit that you produce from your apple tree!

Here & There
Had mediation again on Monday in court and that is never the business. But hey, I went in like a soldier and got it done. It was extremely awkward, but hey...it is what it is. I honestly cannot wait till all of this is over.
I had a very short week at work due to me not being there Monday, then on Wednesday I had an all day training and then Friday was our regular 9/80 work schedule. Being in the office for only 2 days last week was not the business at all. Alot of folks may think its awesome, but I am one to always think of the consequences to actions. Not to mention, I am off on Monday due to the holiday! I have a feeling my voicemail is probably at its capacity, my email has exceeded its limit and mail will be rollin in thick like morning fog...but its all good. It will be another week and I will make the very best of it.
My week came to an end and I must say, it was a very nice ending. =) All good really does come to those who wait huh? I am really anticipating some awesome things happening in my future and I am anticipating to see what God has in store for me! Yeah buddy!!!
I cropped today with a few of my WhoGivesaScrap friends at the monthly crop in Chino. I hooked up with my ace, Alondra Ladison and we really got down and dirty...literally...DIRTY! Kinda grimy! But hey its all good! We have been indulging in an art journal and trying new things. We have been working with all different types of elements that have been stashed away for years!!! I mean paint, paint brushes, modge podge, stamps, and all kind of stuff! We really been showin ourselves out! Holla! Thanks to my scrapper girlfriends Robin, Alondra and Melissa for contributing to the inspiration received within the past 4 weeks...xoxo
Anyway...here are a few pics of what I been doin...
Other than that I will leave you with some photos that I have taken recently during the past few weekends...
Pictures below are me and Bre playing miniature golf with the Jennifer Priest and her lovely fam that I love to pieces!
