{Whats the 4-1-1 Week of 2/14}

Jill Scott is coming to The Voice. She is going to serve as a mentor for Team Usher. The Voice returns to NBC Monday, February 24th with Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Shakira and Usher. This is going to be a busy year for Scott. She is also appearing the new James Brown bio-pic Get On Up.

Bobbi Kris, the 20-year old daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown wants to be a pop star like her mom. Bobbi Kris is being mentored by Mariah Carey and American Idol’s Randy Jackson. Does she have the chops to carry on her mother’s tradition? Houston remains one of the greatest singers of our time, and she was following in the footsteps of her mother, Cissy Houston.

Diahann Carroll has dropped out of the Broadway revival of A Raisin In The Sun. Carroll, 78, was supposed to star opposite Denzel Washington in the legendary production, but she pulled out citing the heavy work load was too much. Carroll is being replaced by Actress LaTanya Richardson, who is married to Samuel L. Jackson. There was a lot of excitement about Carroll returning to Broadway particularly after 80-year old Cicely Tyson won a Tony when she returned to the Great White Way in A Trip To Bountiful. Previews for A Raisin In The Sun with Denzel Washington and LaTanya Richardson start March 8th.

Actress Angela Bassett graces the cover of the latest edition of Ebony magazine.

In more Broadway news, Oprah Winfrey may be headed to the stage in a production of Night Mother with Tony Award Winner Audra McDonald (TV’s Private Practice). If all goes well, the show would open in 2015.

Speaking of Get On Up, Singer Ralph Tresvant has joined the cast, and will play another music legend in the film, the late Singer Sam Cooke. The movie opens in theatres this August. Tresvant  Also in the cast are Jill Scott, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, Craig Robinson and Dan Aykroyd. Rolling Stones' Legend Mick Jagger is producing.

Wayne Brady will be hosting this year’s BET Honors. Scheduled honorees include The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin, Motown Founder and Broadway Impresario Berry Gordy and Rapper/Actor Ice Cube. There will be performances by Mariah Carey, Tamar Braxton, Smokey Robinson, Janelle Monae and Jennifer Hudson. The show airs February 24th on BET.

Meanwhile, Forest Whitaker & Oprah Winfrey (The Butler), Michael B. Jordan and Chiwetel Ejiofor are sharing the cover of the March issue of Essence magazine.

Anthony Anderson will be hosting The 45th Annual NAACP Image Awards airing February 22nd on its new home, TV ONE. Forest Whitaker will be one of the night’s biggest honorees. Some of the presenters include Lupita Nyong, Tyler Perry, Michael Ealy, Arsenio Hall and Gabrielle Union. The Image Awards honor achievement in TV, film, literature and music, to name a few. Some of the nominees include Tasha Smith (For Better Or Worse) up for Best Actress In A Comedy Series, and her twin sister Sidra Smith is up for Outstanding Documentary as producer of Free Angela And All Political Prisoners. The Real Husbands Of Hollywood and For Better Or Worse lead in nominations for TV, and 12 Years A Slave, Lee Daniels' The Butler, Fruitvale Station and The Best Man Holiday are all multi-nominees in film. Alicia Keys, “Uncle” Charlie Wilson, John Legend and Janelle Monae are multiple nominees in the music categories.

Dancing With The Stars is getting a new bandleader. Ray Chew, formerly of American Idol, will be there when season 18 kicks off March 17th. Chew is known for his work with Idol, Showtime At The Apollo and The BET Awards.

The Michael Jackson Estate is in trouble with the government. Did they cheat the I.R.S. by lying about the amount of money the estate has generated since The King Of Pop’s death in 2009? I hear the estate could be getting hit with a $702 million tax bill.

On Vanity Fair’s 20th annual Hollywood issue, it’s Julia Roberts, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave), Naomie Harris (Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom), Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station), Chadwick Boseman (42 & Get On Up) and Lupita Nyong (12 Years A Slave), to name a few. Vanity Fair has come under fire in recent years for the lack of diversity in their previous Hollywood issue covers.

Will Smith will not be returning to the movie franchises Independence Day and Men In Black. New up and comer Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) is reported to be replacing Smith in the Independence Day sequel.

No more reality TV for Ice T and his wife CoCo. The husband and wife duo are teaming up with Ryan Seacrest to host a talk show.

Former NFL Player Terrell Owens is making headlines again. This time for a short lived marriage. Owens, now known more for his babymommas and financial struggles than his football career, is being accused by his soon to be former wife of using her for her good credit. He married Rachel Snider, a postal worker/waitress a couple of weeks ago. After two weeks, she filed for divorce. Apparently, Snider and Owens had been friends for years. But, when she realized there would be no sex with their marriage, she filed for divorce claiming he betrayed her and she was heartbroken. Friends of Snider claim Owens married her to secure a two million dollar loan for a new home he wanted. I wonder if he still making those child support payments to his four babymommas.

Writer/Director David E. Talbert's latest movie, Baggage Claim with Paula Patton, Derek Luke and Jill Scott, is now available on DVD. Check out these other DVD and Blu-Ray releases: Lee Daniels' The Butler, starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey; Ryan Coogler's Fruitvale Station starring Michael B. Jordan; and 20 Feet From Stardom featuring famed lead and background singers Lisa Fischer and Darlene Love.

Scandal returns to ABC on February 27th.

Congrats to basketball superstar Michael Jordan and his wife Yvette Prieto. They are the proud parents of twin identical girls. The couple married in April. Jordan has three grown children from his first marriage to Juanita Jordan.

The life story of Darlene Love is coming to the OWN cable station. Love is the famed background singer and actress who got her due later in life. Love's book, My Name Is Love, details her life as a background singer for the stars including Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Aretha Franklin and others. She was tied contractually to Music Legend Phil Spector, which delayed her career for many years. Love ventured into acting becoming famous for her role Danny Glover's wife in the Lethal Weapon movies. The book also discuses her love affair with Bill Medley of The Righteous Brothers. Love's story is also chronicled in the Academy Award nominated Documentary 20 Feet From Stardom. The Darlene Love movie will air on OWN later this year.

First Lady Michelle Obama will be joining Jimmy Fallon for his first week taking the late night reigns permanently from Jay Leno. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon kicks off February 17th with Will Smith and U2.

 ::::: UNDERGROUND BUZZ ::::::

{OOOO EMMM GEEE!!!}

Ok! I just for whatever reason fell in love with this months ScrapRoom delivery! It was delivered on Monday and I was just barely able to rip open that box! And MAN OH MAN! What a nice surprise...really scrumptious goodies! My coworker also loves when I get my kits because she gets the monthly coffee that comes with! It always smells so good...I'm just not a coffee drinker...

Of course the kit was inspired by the lovers holiday, Valentines, so there are a lot of cute themed papers in there. I can't wait to create with them! I have been having this subscription now for a few years and I will tell you this...it really keeps me out of the stores shopping all the time, because it was causing a problem in my pockets. I know retailers or small business storefront owners may not like to hear this, I am sorry, but I gotta go where my dollars take me...and right now unfortunately, we have no close scrap stores that are open. However, I will periodically take a drive when needed to the nearest store to me which is about 40 minutes away.  Of course we have the "big box" stores like Mikes (Micheals) who has stepped up their game tremendously...and I can get in trouble there too...but that's another story!

Anyhow, all this to say I want to share with you what came in the mail this month from the Scrapbook Room!

Tell me this don't look YUMMY!!! Here we have:

Teresa Collins: You are my Happy
Crate Paper: Love Notes
Fancy Pants: Be Loved
Elles Studio - Love You More / Every Day Moments

 And not only do I receive the FOTM (Flavor of the Month) kit I also receive the Double Shot which includes 2 more additional collections:

Carta Bella - Homemade With Love
My Minds Eye - Lost & Found Record It

Oh! Oh! Oh! And last but not least...I do get the embellishment club as well! Woo...too cute!

Ok....you can now wipe your chin from all the drool!

Can't wait to play!

Happy Scrappin!

Saturday Night Live is adding not one, not two, but three black women. After being criticized heavily for the lack of African American actresses in the show, SNL hired Actress/Comedienne Sasheer Zamata. Zamata comes from a improvisational theatre background and has videos on youtube. She'll make her SNL debut when Rapper Drake hosts and is musical guest for the January 18th show. During those auditions that connected Zamata to the NBC late night sketch comedy show, two new SNL writers were also discovered. Despite the fact they were auditioning for the on screen slot, Comediennes LaKendra Tookes and Leslie Jones were hired for the writing team and they start January 13th.

Our prayers and get well wishes go out to Broadway Star Valisia LeKae. The 34-year old entertainer had to take a leave of absence from Motown: The Musical as she battles ovarian cancer. LeKae played Diana Ross in the show. I had a chance to meet the talented actress when I saw the musical, and she was absolutely wonderful. LeKae was amazing in her role, and I hope she will be able to return to performing. Let’s keep her in prayer

Gabrielle Union's new BET drama, Being Mary Jane, kicked off to high ratings with 5 million viewers strong. The show airs on Tuesday at 10pm. Union has been in the headlines for her show and her recent engagement to basketball's Dwyane Wade. She and Wade got engaged over the holidays, but then greeted the new year with news that he had a baby with another woman during their brief time apart. Sources say there wasn’t a “break,” and that Wade just cheated on Gabby. But, she will never leave him because she got her ring, and she wants to be with a baller. Not all women stay. When Producer Jermaine Dupri was dating Janet Jackson, he took a “break” and got a stripper pregnant. Janet was out, and she rebounded with her now husband Billionaire Businessman Wissam Al Mana. Meanwhile, Dwyane Wade's new babymomma is no stranger to celebrity. Aja Metoyer already has two children by Damon Wayans, Jr. Jr. says he hope his daughters don’t get hurt in all this mess. Metoyer gave birth to a baby boy by Wade in November. Sources say she and Wade have been close for years. As for Gabby, she is grinning and bearing it while preparing her wedding to Wade and enjoying the success of her BET show Being Mary Jane. In other Gabby news, is she planning a baby of her own with Wade? Hmmmmmmmmmmm!

{Sparkle-Tude of the Day: 1/9/14}

Each quarter, my agency conducts meetings, with attempts to keep the line of communication open with all staff, share any news that may be going on, just business in general.  Also it is a time to get together as a whole as there are a handful of offices and we do not get to see each other or touch basis, so we have these meetings.  In 2011 we had a guest speaker by the name of Sheryl Roush and she was speaking about your attitude in the work environment....and how it can be infectious in a great way or in a poison type of way. Makes sense right? Whatever attitude you give off, others can sense it or feel it and definitely can see it.

She was also marketing her book called "Sparkle-Tudes" which is a self help / inspiration book that has gazillions of quotes , inspirations, insights for a sparkling attitude, energy boost, gives you the ability to have a calm reflection period and makes you bring on a new perspective of things, no matter how dim or dark things may be.

I share these quotes with my co-workers, close friends and I would like to share with you...hope you enjoy!

Quote for the day:

When stressed or going through a difficult time, it is essential that you take the time to relax in order to replenish your mind, body, and spirit. Nurture your well-being  by creating an oasis of calm in your life.  Getting calm allows you to get a fresh perspective and helps you cope better physically and emotionally with your troubles.  Being able to control at least one aspect of your life, in this case time to yourself, helps you get a grip on the rest of it .  For success, take the “t” out of “can’t”.

Also, take this bible verse and stick it somewhere where you can read it daily:

"I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
Philipians 4:13

Apply these words today!

Enjoy!

{ScrapOurStash Challenge #11 - Happy New Year!!!}

I'm baaaaaack!!! With a 2nd term of ScrapOurStash!
I apologize for not keeping my blog updated, and I am going to try harder this year to do so!

I agreed to do a 2nd term of ScrapOurStash because not only do I absolutely love the moderators, but they come up with some great challenges! And the prizes....very nice! How could you skip out on these RAKS!? The motivation is great and I hope you become a follower and become inspired! We have a great design team that will creating great stuff this term and I invite you to check out each and every one of their blogs!

We want to start off by saying Happy New Years and would like to get this party started without any further hesitation! On to the 1st Challenge of the year!

Create a layout in which you must add the following:
(5) of one item
(4) of another item
(3) of one more item
(2) of yet another item AND.....
(1) RUB ON!!!

All items used for the countdown must be PREMADE/PACKAGED scrap products. (Example: (5) Flowers, (4) Patterned Papers, (3) Wood Veneers, (2) Chipboard Pieces, (1) Rub On.
Get it!?

You are allowed to add whatever else you want to your layout as long as you meet the requirements to set forth in the countdown. In  your blog or gallery post, you must list the items you chose and how many for each item.

Most importantly, if you are unsure of the guidelines, please click HERE for the SOS Challenge Guidelines!

My take on the challenge:

We get a kick out of playing along with Elf on the Shelf. My daughters Elfs name is Miracle...and sometimes Bre enjoys Miracle and her shennnigans and at times she (Miracle) just gets a little out of hand with her pranks! Bre always is a little sad on Miracle's departure day....on departure day Bre is able to finally touch Miracle as she doesn't need much more magic since she's headed back to the North Pole!

The items I used in my countdown Stash Challenge:
(5) Wooden Veneers
(4)  Enamel Dots (green)
(3) Photo Corners
(2)  Flair Buttons
(1) Rub-On

Also to add, I am a long time member of the ScrapRoom Kit Club in which I absolutely LOVE!!! All the products I used to create my layout were from the TSR December Kit, with the exception of AC & Pebbles Alphas.

The ScrapRoom is generously offering the randomly drawn winner with a nice $20 Gift Certificate!! How can you avoid that!?
What do you have to do?? Make sure you complete a layout inspired by our January "Countdown" Challenge and link it up to ScrapOurStash blog by 1/29/14 11:59PM (PST) to be entered!

Be sure to check back daily for inspiration by our awesome design team! Happy Scrapping!!!

Thanks so much for looking and I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
