The three-year romance between Michael Strahan and Nicole Murphy is over. Strahan, the former football star, is now co-hosting Live with Kelly and Michael. Strahan was tapped as the permanent co-host with Kelly Ripa after Regis Philbin left the show. Strahan had been dating Nicole, the ex-wife of Eddie Murphy, for three years. The two seemed so in love, and they blended their families well. However the pair did have their drama. A couple of years ago, Strahan caught Murphy cheating on him. He put a tracking device in her car, and it led him right to her and her other lover. In their most recent dispute, Strahan came across some suggestive text messages from another man. During the week, Strahan lives in New York while Murphy resides in LA. They have both accused each other of cheating, and Strahan declared he needed a break. Murphy, who is featured on the VHI reality show Hollywood Exes, is said to be heartbroken.



Get ready for the Whitney Houston tributes this fall. First up, the 18-track tribute album, I Will Always Love You: The Best Of Whitney Houston, comes out November 13th. The coffee table book, Whitney: Tribute To An Icon, comes out November 27th. The Lifetime network presents their TV special remembering Whitney Houston, which will feature home videos and interviews with mom Cissy Houston, brother Gary, daughter Bobbi Kris and sister-in-law Pat Houston. On October 24th, the Houston's reality show, On Our Own, debuts on Lifetime. In other Houston news, daughter Bobbi Kris was involved in a car accident with her play brother/lover Nick Gordon. Apparently, the two were arguing and the entire front end of the car was ruined. Word has it they
drove the damaged car back to their apartment. Will this be included in the new reality show?



In addition to her hosting duties on American Idol, look for Nicki Minaj to get her own reality show on the E network.



Steve Harvey continues to do well on TV. His daytime talk show, Steve Harvey, continues to do well. First Lady Michelle Obama will pay Steve a visit on October 3rd. Steve's game show, Family Feud, has doubled in the ratings. The Steve Harvey Show airs weekdays at 2pm on NBC-10. Family Feud airs on the CW Philly 57 weeknights at 7 & 7:30pm.

Kerry Washington and Columbus Short return to ABC-TV. They star in the second season of the Shonda Rhimes drama Scandal airing Thursdays at 10pm.


Singer Usher has postponed his European tour in support of his album, Looking 4 Myself, to spend more time with his two sons. Earlier this summer, Usher won custody of his two boys by his ex-wife Tameka Foster. Afterward, Usher gave an interview to Oprah Winfrey on Next Chapter, and Foster soon followed with an interview to Entertainment Tonight. Foster denied being a golddigger and says she forgives her bridesmaid who had an affair with Usher. Foster also spoke of the death of her 11-year old son, Kile Glover, who died from injuries he suffered after being involved in a tragic jet ski accident. Foster's recent appeal of the custody decision got rejected by a judge.



Get ready for the greatest hits of Destiny's Child. The group, which consisted of Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams and Beyonce before separating for solo careers, is celebrating their 15th anniversary. Greatest Hits arrives in stores October 15th.

Jennifer Hudson says she would like to portray The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin if a bio-pic were to be made. Franklin has been working hard to make the project happen. The Queen says she's working with Producer/Director Taylor Hackford (Ray, Dreamgirls) on a story treatment so the project can move to the script phase. She and Hackford are still talking about Halle Berry, Hudson and Broadway Star Audra McDonald as contenders to play the music legend.

Chad says it’s time to Get Chad Together. Chad Ochocinco Johnson says he takes full responsibility for his actions. He lost his wife, his NFL job and his reality show after his domestic violence incident with ex-wife Evelyn Lozada. Their divorce became final last week. Johnson
will not serve time in jail and he will enroll in anger management classes.


The Martins are having problems.......... as in Duane Martin and his wife Tisha Campbell-Martin. The Martins are being sued by a bank regarding a loan they took out on their home for $430,000. Apparently, they took out a home equity loan in 2008 while another home went into foreclosure.

 
Happy anniversary to Singer Chaka Khan. Khan is celebrating 40 years in the music business. The 60-year old icon is planning on releasing a new album plus go on tour. She is also coming out with a line of chocolates and a new fragrance line.

Where is Papa Joe? Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson has a new love, and she is 51 years younger than he is. The young Indian woman is 33-years old and rich. According to published reports, Jackson is smitten with his new love, and that’s why he has been quiet during the recent family scandal. Papa Joe loves money, and he goes where the money is. Joe Jackson has never been true to Katherine Jackson. He even had children with other women in 1972 and 1974.

NeNe Leakes is on a roll. The new season of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta kicks off Sunday, November 4th. She is also one of the stars of the NBC show The New Normal, and she is featured with that show's cast in the latest issue of Vogue.

Two people accused of blackmailing Stevie Wonder are now out of jail. After pleading no contest, Alpha Walker and Tamara Diaz have been ordered to stay away from the Motown legend and his family. The pair were trying to extort $5 million from Wonder claiming they were going to sell false information about him if he didn’t cough up the money.


Get ready for The Real Husbands Of Hollywood in 2013. The new BET show stars Kevin Hart, Nick Cannon, Robin Thicke, Boris Kodjoe, Anthony Anderson, JB Smoove and Duane Martin. Now speaking of Anthony Anderson, check him out on his NBC show Guys With Kids. He stars along with Tempest Bledsoe from The Cosby Show. Guys With Kids is produced by Late Night Host and Comedian Jimmy Fallon.

Congratulations to Singer Diana Ross because she is a grandmom again. The Boss’ daughter Chudney and her boyfriend Josh Faulkner welcomed their first child, a daughter, Callaway Lane.

At the movies this week, Actress Viola Davis stars in Won’t Back Down.

Smokey Robinson is lending his voice to a new clean water campaign part of his Smoke Alarm charity work. He’s teamed up with Proctor & Gamble and his celebrity friends with a new water purification packet he’s promoting with through twitter and facebook. Robinson, known as The Mayor Of Motown, wants to bring clean drinking water to impoverished areas worldwide.

Cedric The Entertainer will be hosting the Soul Train Awards, which will air on the BET and Centric networks on Sunday, November 25th. New Edition is getting a Lifetime Achievement Award. R Kelly has been nominated for Album Of The Year, and he's also up for the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter Of The Year Award. Other nominees include Usher, Estelle and John Legend.

This is not a good time for Singer Lauryn Hill. Hill faces a three-year jail term for not paying her taxes. Sentencing takes place in late November. The mother of six is also facing criticism from her exes. For years, Hill carried on an affair with Fugees Founder Wyclef Jean, and in his new book, Purpose, Jean claimed he thought he was the father of Hill's first child. He felt betrayed when he realized he wasn’t the dad, and says that's what ended their union with the Fugees. In a recent interview, Rohan Marley the father of five of Hill's children says Wyclef Jean is a liar, and knew the child wasn’t his. Marley says Jean is just talking to sell books.

Deion Sanders says he wants his child support payments reduced. Sanders is going through a nasty divorce with his wife Pilar. Sanders, the TV personality and former NFL star, is worth $250 million. He feels $10,000 a month is too much to pay in child support.

The late Sherman Hemsley's embalmed body is still being refrigerated in El Paso, Texas as a court is reviewing a claim against his estate. On one side is Flora Enchinton who is named as sole beneficiary of the estate worth over $50,000 in a will signed weeks before Hemsley's death. Enchinton says she's been the late actor's friend and manager for more than two decades. On the other side is Robert Thornton of Philadelphia. Thornton claims to be Hemsley's brother, and he says the will isn't authentic. A Texas court has ordered Thornton to take a DNA test by October so a hearing can take place. The 74-year old Hemsley was best known for having two successful sitcoms in a row playing “George Jefferson” in The Jeffersons (1975-1985) and “Deacon Ernest Frye” in Amen (1986-1991). The actor died in July of lung cancer.

Denzel Washington graces the latest edition of GQ magazine. Washington has two big projects on the horizon. His movie Flight, with Don Cheadle and John Goodman, opens in theatres in early November. Washington's second film is 2 Guns with Mark Wahlberg comes out next year. In a recent interview, Singer Al Green says if a movie were to be made about his life, he would love for Washington to play him on the big screen.

Oprah Winfrey shares the cover of Forbes magazine with fellow Billionaires Warren Buffett and Bill Gates for The 400 Richest People In America issue. The Mighty O cracked Forbes top 200 as a media mogul.


Essence Cover Girl Jill Scott has a new TV movie coming to Lifetime. It's a remake of the 1989 movie Steel Magnolias. Scott stars along with Queen Latifah, Alfre Woodard and Phylicia Rashad. The movie airs on Lifetime October 7th. Also that weekend on the Lifetime network, Keke Palmer and Sherri Shepherd star in the movie The Carlina White Story. The movie about the kidnapping of a baby in New York in the 80’s. That story made headlines around the world as years later the baby would grow up and learn the truth. The movie airs Saturday, the 6th at 8pm and Sunday the 7th at 7pm on Lifetime.

In more magazine reading, Actress Gabrielle Union is on the cover of this month’s Ebony magazine. Her new BET show is called Being Mary Jane. On the show, Union plays a news anchor balancing career and her personal life while looking for Mr. Right. Being Mary Jane is produced by Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, the husband and wife team behind The Game.


Singer Keyshia Cole is the cover girl for the latest edition of Hype magazine.

Former BET Head and Founder Bob Johnson and Tracey Edmonds are joining forces for a faith-based YOUTUBE channel called Alright TV. The channel will showcase trendy topics, self help and entertainment.

TD Jakes is coming to BET. Bishop Jakes will be doing an inspirational show called TD Jakes Presents debuting in 2013. Meanwhile, Bishop Jakes' latest movie Woman Thou Art Loosed: The 7th Day is out on DVD. The movie stars Blair Underwood and Sharon Leal.


Former CNN News Anchor TJ Holmes has a new late night talk show debuting on BET. The show Don’t Sleep debuts October 1st at 11pm.

Major changes are coming to the CBS soap opera The Young And The Restless. Debbie Morgan is out! For years, she played “Angie” on ABC's All My Children and then joined Y&R. Genie Francis, who joined from ABC's General Hospital, is also leaving. Actor James Avery, who played “Uncle Phil” on The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, is joining Y&R, and Actor Eric Braeden, who plays “Victor Newman,” just signed a new long-term contract.


The BET Hip Hop Awards air on Tuesday, October 9th on BET. Mike Epps will be hosting. Kanye West leads the pack with 17 nominations. Legendary MC Rakim from Eric B & Rakim is getting a special award that night.


NBC’s Saturday Night Live returned for its 38th season with some shakeups. The role of President Barack Obama is now being played by African American Comedian/Castmember Jay Pharoah. The role was previously played by non African American Castmember Fred Armisen. The show took a lot of criticism for that, and apparently it was finally heard. In more SNL shakeups Castmember Keenan Thompson, who has been with the show for years, is now playing a larger role on the show, including his impressions of Charles Barkley, Bill Cosby and WDAS Morning Man Steve Harvey.

Apollo Live is the Centric network's singing reality show, and it kicks off Saturday, December 1st. Comedian Tony Rock will be hosting and the judges include Gladys Knight, Michael Bivins, and Doug E Fresh.

Speaking of The Empress Of Soul, Gladys Knight is also part of the ensemble for one of the two sitcoms being produced by comedian Byron Allen. The sitcom The First Family is about an African American First Family in the White House. Christopher B. Duncan (The Jamie Foxx Show) and Kellita Smith (The Bernie Mac Show) play the President and First Lady. Also starring are Gladys Knight, Marla Gibbs, Jackee Harry and John Witherspoon. The second Allen-produced show is Mr. Box Office with Bill Bellamy, Vivica A. Fox, Jon Lovitz and Keshia Knight Pulliam. Bellamy plays an A-List movie star who is sentenced to community service teaching at an underprivileged high school. The First Family and Mr. Box Office both air Sundays beginning at 8pm on PHL17.

Speaking of Vivica Fox, she has a second show coming to the Lifetime network. Prank My Mom premieres October 9th at 10pm.

Vivian Green has a new CD Green Room coming out October 9th. She will be in concert October 7th with Mint Condition at the Keswick Theatre.

Tamar Braxton is planning to release a new album. Her first music venture in 12 years. Tamar has been the breakout star of the Braxton sisters. Her new reality show Tamar And Vince, with her promoter-husband, airs Thursdays at 10pm right after Braxton Family Values on the WE network.

On November 16th, Spike TV is doing a tribute special to Eddie Murphy celebrating his 30-year career. Eddie Murphy: One Night Only will feature his work in film, musical performances and sketch comedy.

Tyler Perry returns to the big screen October 19th in the movie Alex Cross. Perry recently canceled the second leg of his stage play Madea Gets A Job due to unauthorized promoters with fake tickets and fake cast events. The bootlegging affecting so many aspects of the play, that Perry choose to ax the tour out of respect for his fans.


Look for R Kelly and Tamia on Wednesday and Thursday, November 28th and 29th at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby. Kelly says his next CD, Black Panties, is coming out next year. Tamia's new CD is called Beautiful Surprise, which is also the name of her latest hit single.


It’s a new baby boy and a second season for Mary Mary. Tina Campbell recently gave birth to her son Santana. Tina and her sister Erica will return December 13th to the WE network for their reality series Mary Mary.

Singer Kem is getting ready for the holidays. He has a new CD, What Christmas Means, coming out in October.


Singer Anita Baker is back. Her CD, Only Forever, is coming out this fall featuring the first single Lately, a cover of the Tyrese song.



Jamie Foxx returns to the big screen this December in the Quentin Tarantino’s film Django. The movie, about a former slave turned bounty hunter trying to rescue his wife from slavery, also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Kerry Washington. Foxx has also signed on for the movie White House Down with Channing Tatum. Foxx will play the President Of The United States, who is taken hostage in the White House.


Get ready for All The King’s Men. It’s a new tour with Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp and Israel Houghton. They will be in Philly on Sunday, October 7th at the Liacouras
Center.

On November 9th, it’s the movie LUV. The film stars Common, Megan Good, Charles Dutton and Dennis Haysbert.

Monday, November 19th it’s the Marion Anderson Awards honoring Actor James Earl Jones. Actor Terrence Howard is hosting, and the Philadelphia Orchestra is performing.
