Whats the 4-1-1!? Week of 11/21/10

San Antonio Spurs Basketball Star Tony Parker has dropped the other shoe in his split with wife Actress Eva Longoria. Last week, Longoria filed for divorce in California claiming Parker was cheating on her with a former player’s wife. Longoria found hundreds of text messages. Parker, who recently signed a $50 million contract with the Spurs, filed his own lawsuit in Texas this week. A divorce could happen in as little as 60 days. Parker says there is no chance of reconciliation because of the conflict of personalities. Parker has denied cheating on the Desperate Housewives star saying he only had a text relationship with the woman. But, a British woman has come forward claiming Parker has sent her half nudes photos of himself. Eva and Tony both have tattoos declaring their love for each other. Eva has one on her wrist, and he has a tattoo on his ring finger.

The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin recently opened up to Jet magazine about her health issues. Franklin had to cancel all appearances and concerts until May, which means she can do no traveling. Franklin, 68, says she’s doing ok and getting the best of care, but she admits she is not 100 percent. Doctors are running tests to determine what’s wrong? She says she’s in constant prayer and hopes her new album will come out as scheduled in February.

DeShawn Snow is back. The former wife of NBA Player Eric Snow was let go from the reality show The Real Housewives Of Atlanta after one season because they felt she was too nice, too normal and didn’t have enough drama. Well over the past year, DeShawn’s life has been filled with drama. Her husband dumped her after 12 years of marriage and three kids. He recently had a baby with a former college love. DeShawn knew she had to pick up the pieces of her life, so the newly divorced former reality star got a new attitude, lost some weight and took her millions to start anew. The Bravo network wants to set up DeShawn in a new reality show focusing on her three kids, her sisters and mother. In other Real Housewives Of Atlanta news, Kim Zolciak is pregnant. Zolciak is having a baby with football player Kory Biermann of the Atlanta Falcons. The 32-year old reality star has two daughters ages 13 and 9. Zolciak and Biermann have been dating since May, and they have no plans to marry. Check them out on the cover of the latest issue of Life &Style magazine.

Wesley Snipes has started his three-year prison sentence. Snipes is in a federal prison because of his conviction on tax evasion.

One of the biggest entertainment stories of the year was the drama involving Singer Fantasia and her married boyfriend Antwaun Cook. She is currently being sued by the boyfriend’s wife Paula Cook. Drama has surrounded this relationship with Fantasia trying to take her own life. Rumor has it she was also pregnant by the boyfriend, but she aborted the baby.

Going into rehab has not stopped Laurence Fisburne’s daughter Montana from pursuing her porn career. She recently spent some time at a rehab center to deal with her anger issues. Montana Fishburne embarrassed her father when she decided to start a career in porn. She released her movie last summer, and now she is getting up for her second film. Montana says she will be changing her look a lil’ bit. She plans on getting bigger boobs….. and she says she wants to get her private parts tightened!!!!

Will Bishop Eddie Long settle? The sex scandal involving Bishop Long and four young men dominated the headlines this summer. The four defendants don’t want a trial, but they are looking for money for their pain and suffering. Sources say a settlement could be announced next year. But here is the big question, if Bishop Long settles with these young men, will this be his admission of guilt of carrying on relations with these men using his church’s money?

The new season of American Idol, with new Judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler alongside the returning Randy Jackson, kicks off Wednesday, January 19th. The new nights for American Idol will be Wednesday and Thursday with Thursday being the new elimination night.

Get ready for the return of Jamie Foxx. His new CD, Best Night Of My Life, arrives in stores Dec. 21st and he has two movies lined up for next year. Horrible Bosses with Jennifer Aniston and Skank Robbers with Martin Lawrence in their female characters "Wanda" and "Sheneneh."

Season two of Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business kicks off December 5th on VH1. In season number two, Ray J focuses on his new projects and settling down with his girlfriend. As for Brandy, she will focus on dating, her new album and her experiences on Dancing With The Stars.

Flavor Flav is back. He is now focusing on the business side of his life. He is coming out with a new line of Vodkas, flavored wines and fried chicken.

Will Smith is alongside Tommy Lee Jones on the set filming Men In Black III in New York.

Angela Basset will be starring in a new police drama for ABC. In One Police Plaza, Bassett will play a New York City police commissioner. Bassett has several other projects lined up including the new Bishop T.D. Jakes movie Jumping The Broom with Paula Patton on Mother’s Day and The Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds coming up next summer.

Poet/Author Dr. Maya Angelou, former President George H.W. Bush and Basketball Legend Bill Russell will all be honored with the Presidential Medal Of Freedom.

Rapper/Actor Common is ready to tell all. Common, 38, has a new book coming out in June called One Day It’ll All Make Sense.

Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People Of 2010 airs on ABC Dec. 9th. Justin Beiber and Sarah Palin are on the list. Speaking of Barbara, the day after Thanksgiving, it’s the President, First Lady with Barbara in a new primetime special. The interview will be the first for both the Obamas since the midterm elections. It will air Friday, November 26th at 10pm on ABC. The First Lady was recently named as on the Top Ten Fashion Divas for her fashion style.

Tyler Perry’s latest stage production Madea’s Big Happy Family is out on DVD.

The movie Takers arrives on DVD January 18th. The movie stars Idris Elba, Rapper/Actor T.I., Paul Walker, Matt Dillon and Chris Brown.

Singer Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge fame is headed to off Broadway next spring in the production Lady Day, based on the life of Singer Billie Holiday.

The King Of Pop’s videos are out on DVD. Michael Jackson’s Visions features over 2 ½ hours worth of classic videos. Also, get ready for the Cirque De Soleil Show coming to the Wells Fargo Center on April 10th, 2012. Michael’s music is also going to be featured in a special episode of the FOX show Glee. Glee has a special after the Superbowl episode on February 6th where the cast will be doing the music from the Thriller album. The Superbowl for 2011 will air on FOX and the special halftime guests will be The Black Eyed Peas.

Jennifer Hudson’s latest movie, based on the life of Winnie Mandela, hits theatres next year. Hudson will play Winnie and Terrence Howard will play former South African President Nelson Mandela.

Singer Dionne Warwick reveals a lot in her new book, My Life As I See It. The singer talks about the Psychic Friends Network, Her cousin Whitney Houston, and her own love life. Warwick admits at one time in her life she didn’t care if the men she dated had other women. Warwick has been romantically linked to Miami Vice Actor Philip Michael Thomas and Godfather Actor Gianni Russo. Warwick is currently working on the new season of Celebrity Apprentice, which starts in January. The cast also includes Star Jones, LaToya Jackson, Lil’ Jon and NeNe Leakes.

Sir Paul McCartney is coming to the world famous Apollo Theatre in December for a benefit show. Also in December, the former Beatle will again be honored by President Obama at the December 28th Kennedy Center Honors. Oprah Winfrey, Choreographer/Dancer Bill T. Jones and Country Legend Merle Haggard will also be honored.

The 4th season of The Game kicks off January 11th on BET.

Ebony and Jet magazines owner, Johnson Publishing, is looking for a new home in Chicago. They are leaving their Chicago base on Michigan Avenue. They have been their since 1972. Sources say they are looking for new, less expensive office space in the Chicago area. The new Dec/Jan edition of Ebony is hot. Desperate Housewives Star Vanessa Williams is on the cover wearing nothing but a coat. The issue, The Naked Truth, is on newsstands now. In other Desperate Housewives news, I hear Terri Hatcher and Felicity Huff are leaving the show after next season. They play the characters “Susan” and “Lynette.”

Mariah Carey is expecting her first child with hubby Nick Cannon, and the baby is due in the spring. Mariah’s latest holiday album, Merry Christmas II You, is out, and on December 13th, she will star in an ABC-TV holiday special. Carey is also promoting her line of jewelry, footwear and fragrance on the Home Shopping Network. She is also working on a new line of maternity clothes.

Steve Harvey’s Book, Straight Talk No Chaser, arrives in bookstores December 7th. It’s a follow up to the book Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man. Steve will be in Philly Tuesday, January 18th at the Borders Bookstore on Broad and Chestnut Streets. Also, check him out nightly on the Centric network with The Steve Harvey Project.

Queen Latifah is hosting the People’s Choice Awards on January 5th.

Check out Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard on the cover of Jet magazine talking about hosting The Soul Train Awards. The awards will air on BET and the Centric network this Sunday. Honorees include Singer Anita Baker and Ron Isley. R Kelly is set to open the show, and his new CD, Love Letters, arrives in stores December 11th. Get well wishes go out to Soul Train’s Creator and original Host Don Cornelius. He’s been ill and was too sick to attend the awards show.

Get ready for Beyonce this Thanksgiving. On November 25th at 9:30pm on ABC, it’s Beyonce featuring concert footage from her I Am…. World Tour. Special guests include Jay-Z and Kanye West. The DVD arrives November 26th at Wal-Mart. The deluxe edition concert DVD, featuring a live audio CD, exclusive documentary and a 40-page color booklet, comes out on November 30th.

Halle Berry’s latest movie, Frankie And Alice, arrives in theatres in early February. In the movie, Halle plays a woman who suffers from multiple personalities.

Charlie Wilson is set to release his third solo CD, Just Charlie, featuring the song You Are.

The Fightin’ Phillies’ Jimmy Rollins is going to be the Honorary Chairperson at this year’s Philly’s Men Are Cooking taking place this Saturday, November 27th at The National Constitution Center, 5th and Arch Streets.

Big Congrats to Singer Eric Benet who recently announced he’s getting married to his long time girlfriend, the ex-wife of Prince Manuela Testolini. Benet used to be married to Actress Halle Berry. Eric’s new CD is Lost In Time, and features Faith Evans, Chrisette Michele, Ledisi and Eddie Levert. It’s due out on November 30th.

El DeBarge’s latest CD is Second Chance and is due out November 30th.

Congrats to Chaka Khan! Khan is being honored at the 32nd Annual UNCF telethon, An Evening Of Stars. The show airs in syndication January 2011.

Today Show Weatherman Al Roker had a new book out called The Midnight Show Murders.

Whoopi Goldberg is headed to Broadway. The Oscar winner will open the musical version of Sister Act as star and producer on April 20th, 2011. Sister Act was a hit as a musical when Goldberg first reprised her role as Mother Superior during a run in London last year. Producers are looking for the same success on the Great White Way. The musical is based on the hit movie that starred Goldberg in 1992.

Patti LaBelle is on Broadway. She is playing the mother of the lead character in the musical Fela! LaBelle will be in the production through the first of the year.

Sherri Shepherd has been named the new host of the Newlywed Game. The new revival of the classic series kicks off this November airing weeknights at 6pm on the Game Show Network.
